Modify digital camera to full spectrum?

Does anyone out there have expertise in modifying a typical digital camera to a full spectrum? From what I've read, removing the hot-mirror will allow a camera to detect IR light, but what about UV? And how easy is it to identify and remove the hot-mirror and any other necessary parts? I'm very much an amateur when it comes to electronics.
